The Playstation 4 is Sony inevitable part in the next-gen trio consisting of PS4, Xbox One & WiiU. By ignoring Microsofts (cancelled) attempts to control everything, with secondhand-market regulations, Kinect- and Online-restraints and using this as tools for their own marketing, Sony won a lot of sympathies among gamers, resulting in a highly successful launch with sold out stores and long waiting lists. Technically, the PS4 seems slightly advanced compared the XBox One. Furthermore, Microsoft has been critisized for their operating system as well, all playing a vital role in the exciting next gen race. The PS4 is surprisingly small and silent, while the DS4 is finally on par with the Xbox controllers. The PS4 is really a nice piece of hardware!
