The PC Engine was a huge success in Japan and was released in countless different version, with different addons and different names in the US as well. The system was technically capable and quite popular for arcade games which made it really popular in Japan where it sold appr. 8 million units. 2,5 million were sold in the USA, but a broad EU release was basically cancelled.
