The NES-101 (also known as the NES 2) ist a redesigned version of the Famicom/NES, released an astonishing 10 years after the launch of the Famicom. It was released only in the US and after the Super Nintendo was already available there. It's housing already shows elements of the Super Nintendo design. Of course, the price was much cheaper than that of the Super Nintendo, expanding the lifespan of the Famicom to over 10 years. At the same time, it's "brother", the HVC-101 ("Famicom AV") was released in Japan as well.
