At the same time the redesigned NES-101 („NES 2”) was released in the USA and the Super Famicom was available in Japan, Nintendo created the Famicom AV as a revised version of the famous Famicom in Japan. It features a new housing, new controllers which are not fixed to the system anymore and an improved output via AV. The housing is slightly different to that of the US NES 2 as the Famicom AV should continue to work with Japanese periphery such as the Disc System.
