The 3DO FZ-1 was the first 3DO to be released worldwide, with Panasonic being the first licensee of Trip Hawkins new idea of a manufacturer-independent, standardized gaming/multimedia system. With over 700 $, it was quite expensive. 3 more companies (Sanyo, Goldstar, Creative) took part, before the idea went into decline. The 3DO M2 was never released, and it's prototypes are the holy grail among videogame collectors.
