After the Leapster and Leapster 2, Leapfrog launched 2 systems of their 3rd generation basically at the same time: the Leapster Explorer and the Didj. The Leapster Explorer features the same ARM9 CPU as the Didj and also runs on a Linux operating system, resulting in various homebrew applications for this system. Games were a little bit more child-focussed than the ones of the Didj, continuing the path that the Leapster and Leapster 2 once paved. The systems design is much better than that of its predecessors. The Explorer range saw another release with the Leapster Explorer GS 2 years after its launch.
