The first revision of the PS3 was released appr. 3 years after the PS3 launch and was eagerly awaited by some gamers due to the hight power consumption and big housing of the original PS3. It is reduced in weight, power consumption and noise, but also lacks some of the features of the "big" PS3 like cardslot, PS2-backwards-compability and SACD-playback function. The price was reduced as well shortly after release.
