After APF had some success with Pong-consoles, the company decided to develop a real, cartridge-based home console as a direct competitor to Atari VCS and Fairchold Channel-F. The MP-1000 shown here is the 2nd release of the system, this time with a built-in game. It could furthermore be added to the "Imagination Machine", resulting in a home-computer hybrid. Both systems are quite well sought after collectors items these days.
