Description

Besides VTechs V.Smile System, Leapfrogs Leapster Platform is the most successful platform for educational gaming addressing the youngest gamers. Most games are focused on kids between 3 and 6 years, while some are recommended up to 9 years. The Leapster was the first console of this platform which grew quite well after the initical success, with various variations and systems available. Technically, the system only has limited power with a 96 Mhz CPU, 2 MB RAM, 4 MB graphics RAM from ATI and a 160x160 pixels touchscreen, all packed in a colorful housing. The system is also a competitor to the Nintendo DS which also has many games addressing young kids. Leapfrog was able to sell around 5 million devices already.
