The PSX is a landmark release for Sony. With its first videogame system, Sony grabbed Nintendos crown and not only established themselves as the market leader from the start, but took the whole industry quantumleaps forward. Videogames were not seen as childsplay anymore, it suddenly was a normal hobby for twens and thirds, with games created for a more mature audience, a revolutionary CD-Rom drive and a focus on 3D graphics.

Die PSX ist ein Meilenstein in Sonys Videospiel-Geschichte. Mit seinem ersten Versuch hat Sony direkt Nintendo die Krone entrissen und hat sich nicht nur als Marktfuehrer etabliert, sondern die gesamte Industrie einen Quantensprung nach vorne gebracht. Videospiele waren ploetzlich kein Kinderspielzeug mehr, sondern ein normales Hobby fuer Twens und Erwachsene. Viele Titel waren fuer ein erwachseneres Publikum designed, das System kam mit einem revolutionaeren CD-Rom und einem deutlichen Fokus auf 3D-Spielen.
