マグナボックス社のオデッセイとは世界初の家庭用ゲーム機である。鋭いデザインや大きなコントローラーやパッケージに入れた白黒 テレビの前に貼り合わせる有色のフォイルから、オデッセイは懐かしい魅力があるし、一式があれば、珍しいコレクターのお宝アイテムである。ゲームは単純だ し、ゲームのカートリッジを変わることが出来る。だけど、ビデオゲームだけでなく、ダイスとかカルタでも遊んだりする。ゲームを六つ入れた以外、ライトガ ンなどが買えた。

The Magnavox Odyssey is THE forefather of all progammable videogame systems. The keen design, the huge controllers and the funny idea with having coloured foils to work with your black and white TV screen have an unbelievable charme and make this a rare collectors item if complete. The games were simple, but for the first time exchangable with cartridges, and they often worked with dices, playing cards and more happening outside of the TV screen. A lightgun and some further games were available apart from the main system which came with 6 games already.

Das Magnavox Odyssey ist DER Vater aller programmierbaren Videospielsysteme. Das kuehne Design, die uebergrossen Controller und die lustigen Einfaelle wie die farbigen Folien fuer schwarz-weiss TVs haben einen unuebertroffenen Charme. Das System ist ein seltenes Sammlerstueck, wenn es wirklich komplett ist. Die Spiele waren simpel, wurden aber zum ersten Mal auf austauschbaren Cartridges geliefert. Oft wurden Wuerfel, Spielkarten und mehr neben dem Bildschirm als klassische Brettspiele genutzt. Eine Lightgun und weitere Spiele waren zusaetzlich erhaeltlich. Das System an sich wurde mit 6 Spielen ausgeliefert.
